Canadian 1981 $50 Coin

    Is this 1981 Canadian $50 coin authentic?
    Never heard of a Canadian $50 NCLT before.
    It seems like a counterfeit to me.
    Any opinions...

    While there are genuine examples, that is not one of them.

    looks like its suppose to be a copy of a Canadian 1oz Gold Maple, although a very, very crude copy. The 1 oz gold Maple has a $50 dollar face value.

    That's ugly alright....My friend bought it for $24...poor guy..
    I guess it would be too much of a shock to him if I tell him about its authenticity.....

    Better to tell him so that he knows what to do/ look for next time otherwise he's going to make the same mistakes over and over.
