Over time a few pre-castro Cuban coins have come into my possession so I have started to buy a few only knowing their mintage and not there worth. Books on that are few to none as far as I can see, but I digress. The question I have is that when they are offered on ebay they often have a designation such as KM-577.1. Is this designation known to anyone here? Thanks

The KM is short for Krause/Mishler and refers to a coin catalog, or actually series of catalogs. If you want some basic information about your coin(s), you can perform a free search here http://www.numismaster.com/ (click on "Find My Coin" in the blue bar). That database is provided by the same publishing house, so you can even enter the KM numbers.
