Shinier in hand, but the picture mostly does this coin the justice it deserves. Everything about this coin is very detailed! There's a little damage on the back, but I suppose that happens over the years. I believe it's the second sub-type, the type without "Cents" on the reverse. Any gradings?? Any comments would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

It's the first type, without cents. They put cents on it after folks were trying to pass it off as $5. They were saved in such high numbers that even a high MS grade coin is relatively inexpensive. I think your coin is probably MS, but the damage is too bad and will probably keep it out of plastic.

I agree. It is MS but damaged. In MS-63 it is a $40 or $50 coin. With the damage yours would be considerably less.

That's ok, I still consider it one of my better pieces and wouldn't dream of selling it anyway = )
