The coin looks AU to me. Looks like it's been cleaned at some point. Also there's a ding on the obverse of the rim at about 10 o'clock and the reverse at 8 o'clock. Plus there's some thing that looks like a cross (maybe chop mark) on the right wing.

ANACS is a good idea then at least there is no Question of authenticity , have you weighed it ?

It look genuine enough, however, unless you have it authenticated you will probably lose a lot on the sale. If it is a fake, it’s pretty good one. The mintmark doesn’t bother me, as they tend to vary from die to die, year to year. The head in general is the only problem I have with it being genuine. I don't believe it is due to a weak strike and looks to worn compared to the rest of the coin (JMO). It does look cleaned/polished which would either get it BB or at least be listed on the label of a TPG.

Yeah, there's two minor chopmarks. I didn't notice the ding before (it's the same one, you're seeing it from both sides) because it was hiding in the shadows of the album. Thanks for pointing that out.

i don't see a question to the authenticity of that one. The only one people have questioned is the trade dollar.

The reason I was taken aback by the answers was because I posted different photos of the same coin and got told that it was MS.

The 'scratch' through '900' is the chopmark, actually.

I didn't think much of the hit on L before, but eh....I'll have to look into the polished thing. I really hope not, but I think I'll send it to anacs.

I'd question the grading on most .

    Why?

I could perhaps go to 63 on the classic head half cent, maybe AG+ on the worn 1921 because of the reverse in retrospect. Fair enough. But really, that's not much, and I don't see how the others are off much at all.

That makes sense. Goes with the chop mark in the eagle's wing. It was hard to make out in the photo.

Funny thing is that I didn't notice the chop mark in the wing until about a month ago.

I've had this coin for 5+ years.

Surfaces don't look original. Possibly cleaned if not downright polished / burnished.

I, too, have this feeling that it may not be genuine. I would send it to ANACS or NCS/NGC for authentication.

Every Trade Dollar reminds me... I'm glad I didn't choose the name "420grains"...

If it was cleaned, wouldn't there be evidence of it in fine scratches/hairlines? I checked for them and didn't find any. If it looks polished (I'm still pretty sure it's genuine) I won't sell it until I get it checked out by ANACS. So thanks for that, guys. I didn't know, just thought it had prooflike surfaces or something.
