I'm kind of new at this kind of stuff, but I saw a few things on some other sites about overdates or O-101's and was wondering if anyone could offer their expertise? If nothing else, perhaps a grading estimate?? Thanks!!

Not a 19/8 unfortunately, looked at a normal PCGS 1819 MS 62, and the date looks just like this.

I'd only grade AU-50, the wear on the upper part of the left wing looks pretty substantial, and there seems to be wear in the cap. I mean it could just be the photo, but I have an ANACS Au 58, and this looks to have considerably more wear.

A lot of coins do, unfortunately : (

    Difficult to grade from photos.

that's really interesting, but what does this mean? is this rare for this coin? I don't know much about it.

It is an Overton variety. (The 'O' is for Overton.) Al Overton identified the CBH varieties and wrote a book about 40 years ago.

That's cool. I looked it up a little bit, and found that it had a rarity rating of R-1. Is that the lowest rarity or highest? Sorry I keep asking so many questions...I'm just really interested in knowing what I have!

    R-1 is the most common.

Just to confuse you even further, there are several different rarity scales depending on the series.

hahaha awesome. of course everything has to be difficult! are the Overtons less common than the regulars? probably not, with my luck.

Most common is most common. The real difference between the rarity ratings is when you get into the higher rarity numbers. For example, under one convention an R-8 may mean the coin is unique while under another convention an R-8 may mean that 2 or 3 examples are known to exist.

    Better pictures?

Here are some pictures I took, rather than scanned pictures. I had a heck of a time trying to get the right focus and everything, but until someone can tell me how to best manually focus my digital camera, these will have to do = \ Hopefully these help a little or look better! Also, although I'm kind of new to this, I think there's some slight toning on the obverse, and a good deal on the reverse. Tell me what you think!

I really don't know how to unless you have an anti-shake or a tripod. My dad has an expensive (but old digital camera)....I have a really cheap one and it's garbage for taking coin photos.

The last photo, however, is really nice. It has better toning than before and the wing's wear is a bit less pronounced. I might go to AU-53 with that.

It also seems to have reasonably natural surfaces, which is hard to come by on these coins.
