http://www.flickr.com/photos/11608469@N08/2708300037/sizes/l/ I am thinking that is may be because of the slag after the date. I know the pic is bad but there is slag on the coin after the date. I cannot find any anywhere else on the coin. What do you think?
It is like a molten blot of nickel or whatever after the date. It even has a pit in the molten raised part. I wish I knew how to take better coin pics.
I can see the mark he's talking about in the image look at the final "1" in the date 1961 and just below it is a odd marking (atleast odd 2 me)
The pic is terrible and I can't see anything in detail but it looks like a 'D' mintmark to me. A 'D' has a "pit" in the middle of it.
I see it now , I was looking at the black mark at around 7 oclock . Always thought the MM were on the reverse , but that changed in '66 . Hobos right , I've seen a lot of filled MMS. rzage:smile:kewl:
Is counterfeiting Jefferson Nickels like training for counterfeiters. Once you can do a worthless coin, you are allowed to step up and counterfeit rare coins.
Just about every coin there is has been counterfeited at one time or another - from the most common to the rarest coin there is.
