Hi, let me first introduce myself.

Im new to this site/forum and I must say I find it marvelous. I mostly collect scandinavian post-1873 coins which may be natural as I live in Sweden. :)

It now happens that I have started to get an interest for world war 2 coins but have a hard time locating where I can find info about this kind of coins. Im searching mostly for coins from the period 1939-45 used by nations on the Allied-side but most of all coins issued for liberated regions/nations and coins strucked on behalf of nations who, by the time, where occupied by the nazis.

    Can anyone help?

    Welcome to the forum Berg.
That is an interesting field, and one I have dabbled in, but I have not found any references specifically focused on such coins.

The Standard Catalog of World Coins by Krause & Mishler, an annual telephone book-sized book covering 20th/21st Century issues has a lot of interesting commentary on the subject, but to find it you have to look up each individual country and then review the listings to see if there is a section on coinage of the war years and their immediate aftermath - roughly 1938-48.

Sometimes it is just a mention in the description of the coin, as in the case of the Vichy France aluminum coins used in the portion of France that was originally unoccupied by the Germans and was headed by Marshall Petain, a Nazi collaborator.

Thank you satootoko for your reply.

I had set my hopes to that there should be some litterature or website in english covering this specific "branch" but as it doesnt exist I´ll try to gather info from where I can get it.

    Thanks yet again. :)

I do not remember my coin references off hand but for rags or paper currency I have provide a website that may be of interest to you.

    www.atsnotes.com/catalog/topic/jim.html

"Paper money issued during World War II by Japan for occupied countries: Burma, Malaya, Netherlands Indies, Oceania, Philippines and Russia(not issued).

For Japanese issues in China see:
    Japanese Occupation of China, 1937-1945
    Manchukuo, 1932-1945"

The above could be found on the web page that I provided. If you search the site you will find allied money, etc...
