There has always been a prejudice against the Caligula sestertius commemorating the dedication of the temple to the Divine Augustus because it did not have a portrait and was thus unsuitable for a 12 Caesars set. I find this doubly interesting considering the fact that full length statues of Caligula are rare and preferred over heads and the fact that portrait free coins showing the Flavian ampitheater (Colosseum) are considered much better than the ordinary sestertii. These are coins for those interested in individual types over filling out a set. Of course, this coin is in higher demand in perfect condition but I have felt fortunate to have what I have.
