I got these from my grandfather. I recently learned he had a collection of banknotes from South America. He got them over the years traveling to South America for business. He was active from 1960s to early 2000s, then retired. He gave me a bunch (about 300 notes). They pretty much cover all the South America countries. Some of them I'm keeping, some I will be selling. I've already got a few up for sale in my store. Many more to scan and list though. It will take me about a week to finish.
A tougher modern $10 replacement note. From a short run of 4,000 sheets (128K notes) printed in April 2019.
I was recently given a mini-hoard of bank notes by my grandfaher. Mostly South American notes (some European) from his travels as a businessman. Came across this one. Appears to be a short snorter. For those that don't know, a short snorter is a bank note signed by people traveling together on an airplane. Apparently this was a customary thing to do back then when flying was still a bit of a luxury. Anyway, it appears this one might have been signed on April 19, 1964 as one of the signers wrote that date on the reverse (upper left corner: "19 de abril 1964"). It's well circulated and probably not even worth the paper it's printed on but still cool and thought I'd share it.
Thanks for the post. I love to see this type of thing and my mind reels with what the history of it might be.
For those with deep pockets (not me) this is probably no big deal, but it is a proud moment for me to add this to my collection.
I'm on a run adding new notes to the collection. Another first for me in large-size category... Legal Tender (red).
