I have found a 1941s Lincoln cent with double stamping on the date and mint mark but can't find any reference to this error. Can anyone help?
these are all I could find for that year, http://www.lincolncentresource.com/doubledies/1941ddos.html http://www.lincolncentresource.com/doubledies/1941ddos.html
a picture would help but if not take at look at coppercoins.com under "die variety serach" http://www.coppercoins.com Snowman
Without seeing the coin in question, is is very uncommon to find a repunched mint mark and a double die on the same coin. these two conditions are created at different points in the making of the die. Coppercoins.com doesn't show any for that year so my guess without seeing the coin is machine doubling. Richard
I would agree, and without a picture it would be very hard to say otherwise. To help you with this coin and other cent errors you can log on to www.lincolncentresoure.com.
