Well, I figure anyone who figured out the title of this thread must be a serious Half Dime man !

The original book on early Half Dimes was by Valentine. The newer book is by Logan and McCluskey.

OK, so here's my first question... do I need both books, or will the Logan and McCluskey book suffice ?

2nd question ... Anybody know who the JR guys are who "wrote the book" on early dimes, and where I can find a copy ?

numislit on eBay has all sorts of numismatic literature, much of it out-of-print and very difficult to find anywhere else.

If yo are going to concentrate on the early half dimes (everything except the seated design) then all you need is the new book. It is clearly superior to the Valentine book. If you are wanting to do the seated half dimes then you need Valentine and possibly/probably Blyhe (sp) as well.
