JDG....As you are aware the 1995 Silver Eagle (W) is limited to just over 30,000 coins..it current value is 2200.00 alone..with the GAE error coins having ~1:500 and ~ 1:315 ratios...WOW the thought of the future value is mind blowing high! Your thoughts??
Howdy RickieB - Yeah I'm well aware of the mintage numbers for all of the American Eagle coins and their values. For the '95-W ASE though I think the value is bit higher. The cheapest completed auction I found on ebay was $3800 for a PCGS slabbed coin and $4800 for the set. That is about $1000 increase over the past year. As for the '99-W errors though the prices have actually come down from what they were a couple years ago - substantially so. I haven't really been tracking these since I quit collecting US so I don't know what the trend is right now - only that the price has dropped about 50%. So I rather doubt we'll be seeing increases for these 2 coins.
GDJ, I am in accord with you on the price adjustment we have seen, however, thinking in longer term I feel that the potential for these errors will be high. After all it is the first modern error on a bullion coin to my knowledge..if you know of another please advise to the details. Thanks for the input and rebuttle..always interested in the other persons viewpoint. "Giddie up" time to ride for the sunset!
