Just received 73-74 Ike proof set. They are both encapsulated but appear to have been handled. Or is this vintage just prone to these flaws from the mint?
Your first pic answers your question. This isn't the US Mint but a knock off brand re-purposing the coins. Who knows what their QC is when it comes to these?
Ditto. These have been at the very least popped out of US mint proof sets and put into this 3rd party packaging. The one with marks would be called an impaired proof due to post mint damage.
Unfortunate scratches on that proof. I would return them if you can, and buy a TPG (PCGS or NGC) graded example in the grade you can afford, or cherry pick a nice raw example. I'm not saying buy this one here, but this is just some examples. None are perfect 70s, but certainly much higher grade than that repackaged proof coin.
@bruthajoe My advice to you.. Keep away from that company. A lot of their items are damaged and only worth face value.. No premium for the future at all. For example.. Colorized coins? Post mint damage! Garbage! All of these are garbage!
That was not shown in the listing. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-S-Pro...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
read this Then (1) remember the US MINT is a US Government organization. This is a "MINT" but not the US MINT .. it's the First Commemorative Mint (2) " certificate of authenticity" .. or guarantees .. contains genuine legal tender ... (from) the US MINT. this can be considered deceptive. But it's all the truth .. just made to "look official" There are hundreds of "mints" across the globe that has no relation to any government but make "coins / medals / tokens" to sell to the public for profit. They can also repackage "real" coins ... or plate them and resell them, or anything really. remember this too ... this "package" could have been put together yesterday.
Again... This was not shown in the listing nor was there any mention of it. I would not consider the listing misinformative, but certainly lacking this info. Buyer beware.
...so, you took the picture? You are correct that they didn't mention that these weren't mint packaged coins, but, then again they didn't mention that they were. Tricky people!
