Probably this one... http://www.coinfacts.com/half_dolla...s/1817_half_dollars/1817_half_dollar_o102.htm
There has been a nice variety of choices from every body. I got thinking that the coins I would most like to have are fairly attainable with the exeption of the gold stella. I need a one dollar gold coin and a three dollar for my gold set and a few more morgans then a few more three cent nickels.
This is a dupondius of Nero with the Macellum Magnum reverse. I love the architectural detail in this coin...now where's my drooling icon?........ I actually believe one of these will be obtainable for me one of these days.
I want these two: Syracuse, tetradrachm from a member (probably the tyrant Hieron I) of the Deinomenid family, 485-466 BC. And an 8 reales from Santa Fe de Bogota, 1759.
Ya know Ben, you've really peaked my interest in this particular coin series. Great article. The bug has bitten....I've got to have one of these for my collection (not the one in the article but something more reasonably attainable).
Shortstack, I gotta tell you that this is one of my least favorite early commem's, but if I was forced to have one, I might choose this one. PCGS MS66 OGH (NOT MINE)
Here is one of the ones I'd like to have. Maybe the coin fairy can stop by tonight. Isn't she beautiful.
So speaking of impressively toned early commemoratives. They just don't come any nicer than this ICG MS69 Norfolk (formerly PCGS MS68). Definitely on my wish list. WOW---MONSTER
