well i hope i have not confused people here but i dont see what a lincoln cent of gold is. can anyone point me in the right direction?
nah unless you can tell me the winning lottery numbers this is where i will stay. and if the mint goes through with the audacious 3 oz state quarters i am out completely
It was gold plated for some type of promotional purposess - or made that way for a set that was old on TV or something - It is not authentic & is only worth a cent or 2-
Actually, my Dear DQ Spock: Last year (or so) in Coin World, they mentioned that someone, as a promotion, at a Coin Show (most likely ANA) spent a gold Lincoln cent. It wasn't until later that they realized that it was likely that no one would realize the difference from that coin to a regular 'new' cent. It's still out there (apparently).
I think the cent you are refering to is a very tiny promotional Lincoln Copy cent. If it is, take a loop and look at it should say 24K somewhere on it, however as tiny as it is the gold content it may be only $3-$6. I think it was some kind of promotional lincoln in the early 80's. When in doubt google it or e-bay it.
