I just pulled a 1909-S from a budgood bag this week, and in the past a 1914-D, 1931-S and too many semi's to count.
Ok, I surrender. If I may purchase a budbag, I will sight unseen at whatever the going price. I usually buy hoards of coins from elderly people, but even those have somehow been searched. I will listen to the majority and buy one if I can get hooked up. edited Vegas Vic send him a PM
I actually got bored one day and wrote a guide on ebay all about unsearched wheat cents. I would post it here, but am afraid it would violate forum rules. So, I posted a link to my ebay guide in the open forum. It's the only way I know of how to determine whether wheats are unsearched or not (usually not).
Ok, but if I get deleted or they take away my birthday or something to that effect...it's your fault::smile the link.
Cool report ! However, that only applies to cents pulled from circulation and saved. Many bags are just accumulations of collections purchased, then the dealer throws them into a bin and when they reach 5000, sell it, usually after pulling the better stuff for carded singles, the way I do it. Like I said, I also buy and sort bags as well. Some bags I search, some I don't knowing that they are just average bags and not worth the 5 hours. It all depends on where I buy them.
Lincoln Search As I said earlier, I buy many hoards, especially from the elderly. I've bought five gallon buckets of wheats and never hit one of the four keys. I then end up putting them in zip-locks and salt them and sell them at $8.95 a pound. Somebody even seems to get to the old people before we can get there. I just don't believe in unsearched wheats any more. VV
I think your skepticism is well founded. Although...there are those budgood bags everyone talks about...
The 2 scarcest ( none are rare ) " main" Lincolns are the 22 No D die pair #2, and the 55 doubled die. You can add the 36 DDO #2 and the 1917 DDO, 1944 D/S, 1946 S/D...etc etc the most " expensive " big 4 are the 09SVDB, the 09S, 14-D and ( 31-S...common in all grades VF and above....BU rolls existed recently, most have been broken up and slabbed ) As you climb up the grades, most of the " common " 1920's decade are exceedingly tough, and many of the Phili 1950's, topping out at the 1926-S, the true key to a Gem Red Lincoln collection.
Spock, are you messing around or possibly not seeing the coins correctly? I'm sorry to have to actually ask but that would truly be unheard of.I mean I know I did put in some world coins but the cents were untouched. If so holy crud !
He has a consistent problem of looking at coins with his eyes shut and his mouth open. I keep trying to instill in him that it's the other way around :hammer:
I am not sure what you mean but there were cents coins in there fire red gem bu at the very least. i bet at least half a roll of 1950 D were like that amongst others
some of the world coins ill have to wait a bit i think the 4 pence from england (came out of the bag not the flips) the tonk pice, the 1 reale or escudo cant remember and of the british coins were just amazing out of this world. i got the 1909 and the 1922 in there not to mention 1910 11 and 12 but that was just looking randomly i am sure there are other treasures out there ( i saw at least 15 1955 but havenet checked for DDO) why is this a surprise?
