elaine 1970: Numismatic News had the 2007S 14 piece clad at $44.00 at least as early as May 2008. I wonder how they justify this when the set could still be bought at the much lower issue price from the mint.
Regarding the low mintage 2004 mint set. Months before the cutoff date Numismatic News had the value as high as $70.00 when I believe it could still be bought for the issue price from the mint at either $l4.95 or $16.95 NN gives both values. NNews had the mintage for this set at 1,160,000 around May 2006 then sometime after Jan 2007 they revised this to 844,484. Does anyone have info on this?
reply to your questions. mint uncirculated set: 2004 - 844,485 - $39.95 (lowest mintage so far). 2005 - 1,160,000 - $16.95 2006 - 934,360 - $19.95 2007 - 901,669 - not final yet. 2008 - start selling on july.31 not everybody know how to buy directly from the mint. and some chooce to buy it from there dealers or coin stores because of just one to two sets. or else how can the dealers sell them.
mintage figure from numismatics news weekly report. to have latest figures. n.n. online is always ahead by around one week.
elaine, can you please post the mintage figures from 2007 silver proof sets as well as clad proof sets?
Elaine: Where did you get the 901,669 for the 2007 uncirculated set? I do not know what sources Numismatic News uses to obtain their estimates of coin values; but I would be surprised to see ads from Paul Sims, Coin Depot, etc. three to four months before mint cut off with prices for uncirculated sets four times the mint issue price.
