Hi... A have a question... If anybody heard about steel penny from 2006??? I got this coin and i`m just curious about it... It`s error or regular coin... ??????
No, never heard of one. Most likely plated, however, try posting a picture. And, welcome to the forum.
Two questions that have to be answered before any meaningful responses can be made. What does it weigh in grams to at least one decimal place? Is it STRONGLY magnetic?
Hi.... hmmm.... I can`t really have a chance to check a weight... And yes, its magnetic... I dont know what you mean with "strongly magnetic"....
Strongly magnetic = it will jump to the magnet when it is brought close to it. (1/4 to 1/2 inch) such as a 1943 cent will do. Weakly magnetic = you can tell there is some attraction to the magnet and the attraction is weak enough that it can barely be picked up by the magnet or maybe not able to be picked up at all. A nickel plated cent is typically weakly magnetic. A non-plated zinc cent would not be magnetic.
I would add a more fundamental question- are you in Canada? Because there are 2006 copper plated steel Canadian cents.
Not Canada Nope... I`m not in Canada... I live in NY... And this is US coin for sure... And i just checked... It`s weakly magnetic...
Well weakly magnetic tells us it is not a steel cent and is almost certainly nickel plated. When you do get a weight on it you'll find that it will be very close to the official weight of 2.5 grams.
If it's bright and shiny, it's been plated. If it's dark, dull, and grey, it's been de-plated. Your coin is plated, I'm sorry to say.
Hello, yes these do exist. I have one also. It is highly magnetic like the 1943 steel cent. It weighs 2.5 grams. Im trying to figure out how to include pics.
