What is going on with this coin?

    Please someone tell me what is going on with this coin? I first noticed the date was faded and wanted to know what may have caused this damage.

    It's fairly common, though one like yours is a little less common. Cool find even if it isn't that valuable.
    Here is one I found awhile back that has both sides struck through grease.
