First coin bought in 2020... Canada proof cameo 25 cents caribou quarter 99.99% silver. Sellers pics...
These 3 came today. 100-128 Kushan, Vima Kadphises AE Tetradrachm, hefy coin at 15.96 grams and 21 mm D. Next is 780-980 Indo Sasanian AR Drachm, "Sri Ha" type. Then a 1405-1435 Malwa Sultans AE Falus.
Love them! Especially the first Kushan piece. I've got a couple but they're all a bit more rough than that. The middle one is neat too.
Just in today. Lovely coin at a great price. There is toning, but in hand it's not as pronounced on the obverse as the photo suggests.
Love that Dutch silver, I have a lot of it. This 1938 2 1/2 gulden "Grof Haar" came not too long ago.
A bit contemporary in comparison to the rest of my collection, but it was cheap, and I could not resist. 1937 Great Britain proof Shilling with the English Crest NGC PF-65
1400-1413 Venice Ducat, NGC MS65. Doge Michael Steno. Maybe someone can explain why some are called ducats and others zecchinos. Super nice strike in any case.
The introduction of the silver ducat in the mid 1500s necessitated the name change to zecchino, however, you can still refer to them as gold ducats after that point and it's correct also.
Got back some coins from a recent submission a friend and I sent in: Media Information Album: Thai Coins Uploaded By: Mkman123 Date: Feb 2, 2020 View Count: 561 Comment Count: 0 EXIF Data (Expand / Collapse) File Size: 74.4 KB Mime Type: image/jpeg Width: 1080px Height: 1350px Note: EXIF data is stored on valid file types when a photo is uploaded. Ohhh, the 20 huh? Rare coin. I need to get this set of 2.5, 5, 10 and 20 satangs. They go for a mint.
Picked up this set last week - only just got round to photographing. Part of the Matt proof 1902 set of GB coins - Halfcrown, Florin, Shilling and Sixpence here. (I will put the Crown in the Crown size thread.) These are in the 13 coin Specimen box they were issued in, but sadly the 4 gold coins (£5, £2, £1 and half sovereign) were missing along with the Maundy set. Sadly the sixpence has been rubbed by greasy fingers a few too many times, but the rest look ok.
Always had an interest the coinage of Sinkiang and over the last few years Silk Road coinage. This is a medieval Chaghatayid dirhem of Qaidu. Otrar mint, now a ghost town along the Silk Road in Kazakhstan.
Had 18 coins arrive in the past 2 days, dates ranging from 80 BC to 1936 AD. First one is Indo Greek, probably Apollodotos II, 80-60 BC. Then a pair of Kushan AE Tetradrachms, Kanishka - I 128-158 and Huvishka - 158-195.
