    Ok my phone died a horrible death while trying to type this, I did not know cell phones can get a virus but yep they can lol. What I meant to type is so far I have found 6 radar notes. I have only been looking for fancy notes for around 3 years but as much cash that I handle daily I thought that i'd have found more by now. Defiantly not as common as you'd think.

    Wait a minute...how could they pay out $22.50 in gold coin on June 1, 1934 if FDR called in all the gold earlier that year? I thought the banks weren't allowed to pay out in gold after his edict...

    Just guessing but the bond, and thus the debt, was probably printed and incurred prior to the implementing of that law, and was thus "grandfathered" in.

    @Hookman , not sure about grandfathering but the original Executive Orders 6102 and 6260 contained exceptions* for amounts not to exceed $100 per person. As to how the City of New York could acquire the coin is another matter; but just remember that politics in New York are politics of a whole different character.
    * Exceptions E.O 6102, Section 2(a); E.O. 6260, Section 3(a)

    It is coupon 9 for semi-annual interest meaning the original bond was from 1930 pre-dating the EO. The gold clause in the bond was unenforceable in 1934, so even if the amount of the interest payment was within the exception, there was no legal requirement to pay it in gold.
