What causes this?

What causes the ... folding?.. of the rim?. And what is it called? Plz and thanks for the info.

High pressure strike causes finning of the rim.

And no there is no premium for that.

 

Oh I know theres no premium haha, I would be rich if there was haha.. they are on almost every dime I find lol. But thank you. I didnt know that, and never would have guessed that's what caused it lol

 

It happens more often than you know.

 

Oh yea. I would say so too. Most coins, especially dimes and quarters, have this.. I was just wondering what caused it.
