My friend Gavin has this coin about the size of a quarter with an extra rim on the outside. He doesnt know what it is. Both sides have washingtons head facing to the right. Along the bottom it says george washington and across the top it says: 1789 1st President USA 1797. There is also a man made hole in the top through the word president. Does any1 have any idea what this could be?

There are tokens with the above legends. Most are pretty modern and are based on tokens of the period. Without seeing the token firsthand, it will be hard to tell if yours is old or new.
The modern tokens sell for just a few dollars.

I have one exactly like it

I got mine from my grandmother who lived in Kerens, Texas. It is also has the hole in the top. On one side the N in President is backwards. Did you ever figure out what it is?

    Welcome to the forum rkt.
There is simply no way to get any more specific than National Dealer's original response. There are literally thousands of Washington medals, and there are very few worth more than their value as just so much gold, silver, copper, aluminum, pewter, or whatever else they are made of.
