i just ordered 2 rolls of new nickels ( bison ) and 2 bison (2005) nickels in a grading case. This is the first day issue of these. i have heard these are rare. is this the case? in this forum you can discuss some coins youve just accumulated if you want. thanks
Because they are no different than any other coin issued for circulation. It sounds to me like what you bought is something being offered by an aftermarket ( not the US Mint ) company. You say you bought 2 rolls and they are in a grading case - I'm not sure I understand this comment. Can you elaborate ? You didn't ask about errors - but it would depend on what the error is.
I watched the HSN show you bought your coins from, Flam... In my opinion, HSN is overcharging for these coins. From what I saw, HSN was offering two rolls of UNC Bison nickels, two MS-67 Bison nickels graded by ICG and one (unknown grade) original Buffalo nickel graded by ICG for $59.80. If you like these coins, enjoy them. That is what the hobby is all about. Not necessarily making money, just enjoying the coins. From the standpoint of collecting them as a hobby, you did fine. From the standpoint of purchasing them as an investment, well only time will tell.
well im hoping the ungrade old buffalo nickel is a good one how are they overpricing them? and i also bought the 6 year set of the state quarters (the ones that were layered in gold or something and came with the nickels)
Flamtap, I also watched some of the HSN show. The "original buffalo nickel" was not a graded coin, it was just in a slab that stated it was "authentic"... my guess it will be a coin worth no more than 25-50 cents. Do yourself a favor and search this forum for TV coin sells and you'll find that they always get premium +++ for what they sell. You can do better elsewhere
