I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but some of what I see looks suspect to me.(Reverse lettering looks off, etc. Check out the serif on the C in AMERICA.)

All the photos are kind of small, but now that I've had a chance to zoom in at home, I'm worried about this horizontal line off the last A in AMERICA:

    1854_$3_gold_obv_zoomed.jpg

It looks raised, it looks like it's the same material as the rest of the coin, and I can't think of a way to make it appear on a real coin. Raised defects like that, or like the denticle extension above the I, are classic indicators of a counterfeit. :(

I thought I remembered seeing this specific defect (horizontal line off A) mentioned somewhere, but I'm not seeing it in the Fivaz book. I suspect a false memory.

(Probably time for the standard I am not an expert caveat. You definitely need to show these coins to a disinterested expert who can examine them in-hand.)

Three of those are worth getting graded. If you send them to Great Collections, they can send them through PCGS and/or CAC if you like. No fee other than $10 listing fee to you if an item sells for $1,000+, which all would.

Good morning... that is certainly one of our concerns. Which coins are you referring to ?
