This week I received some more of the coins i had purchased at the show. Five of the coins are the result of purchases from dealers at the show. One the Gallienus is an interloper. I bought the coin at auction and it came yesterday.
Coin 1 529995.jpg Av quinarius or reduced Aureus of Gallienus 266-267 A.D.RIC 118 Gobl MIR 670b This coin illustrated 1.43 grms 17mm
Coin 2 5993519.jpg Hadrian Drachm from Alexandria 131-132 A.D. RPC 5791. 68 This coin listed Datarri 1794 This coin illustrated Rv Nilus seated 25.83 grms 32mm
Coin 3 3686790.jpg Ptolemy IV Ar Tetradrachm Obv Jugate busts of Serapis and Isis. Rv Eagle CPE 892 219-217 B.C. 16.99 grms 25 mm
Coin 4 moesia-istros-ae17-circa-350-339-5363404-O.jpg Istos Ae 17 Obv Head of Apollo right Rv Eagle clutching dolphin left. SNG Stancomb 169 This coin illustrated 350-339 B.C. 4.05 grms I just loved the jade green patina
Coin 5 1341142.jpg Kingdom of Macedon Antigonos II or III Ar Tetradrachm Obv Head of Poseidon right Rv. Apollo seated left on prow. HGC 1051 227-221 B.C. or 246/5-221 B.C. 16.95 grms 30 mm. Ever since seeing one of these on the back cover of the Sear Greek Coins and their Values Vol II I wanted one of these coins. They are not uncommon but it took a while to get one (over 30 years)
Coin 6 1274925 (1).jpg C. Coelius Caldus Ar Denarius Obv. Head of Caldus Rv. Radiate head of Sol. 51 B.C. Crawford 437/1b RBW 1550 This coin illustrated 4.00 grms 18 mm. The last group should be in the next week or so.

Quite a haul - the jugate busts of the Ptolemaic kingdom are the cat's meow. Nice coins, esp. the light aureus or fractional gold of Gallienus.

All are terrific examples and I'd have any one of them in my collection. But that is one heck of a bellybutton on Hadrian!!!!!!

WOW! All are magnificent Terence. My favourites are the Ptolemy IV tetradrachm and the Gallienus aureus. Lightweight aurei remind me of tremisses as they are so thin! Hopefully will add one....... eventually! Congrats on the purchases!

Was your lovely Istros cited as being from the Stancomb Collection? Nice bonus if it wasn't!

Lovely coins, really beautifull Istos AE. That reverse, " Eagle on Dolphin" is amazing. So is the belly button (Bing's photo)

Have you managed to doublecheck the pedigree on the Gallienus? I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned in Roma when it sold but the earlier NAC 49 listing includes:

    Ex. Biaggi (1471)
Ex Dorotheum sale 13-16 June 1955, Apostolo Zeno, 2013. Göbl 670b and pl. 53, 670b (this coin)

Assuming that is correct, that's an incredible purchase!

That would be astounding. Several of the greatest provenances imaginable.

Zeno, the Venetian librettist lived 1669 to 1750.

Absolutely. When I saw the coin, I checked in in Gobl and found it. I located a copy of the Dorotheum Sale and discovered it is not Lot 2013 but Lot 2019.This is confirmed in Gobl.

Congratulations on the great coins and the wonderful provenances. I'm jealous of your Zeno in particular, as I have none yet.
