Hello World, Are there any modern business strike collectors out there? High grade Zincolns? Are you interested in that 1999 MS69 Delaware State Quarter PCGS price guides for $14,000? Does it excite you of how readily available FS Jefferson nickels are for recent years? I'm looking at starting an MS67/68 state quarter set to track which states I've visited, should be a fun set. Also looking into starting a short set of Lincoln Cents from 1983-2008. I imagine this thread likely won't get much traction, maybe there are a few people out there Will
I'm currently exploring 2009 zincolns, They are garbage. So many blisters and residue damage. Maybe if I can keep them from disintegrating they'll be worth something in a hundred years.
Well, while coin roll hunting cents I set aside choice Zincoins, and then choice FS Jeffersons. I also purchased years ago, some beautiful MS 69 quarters (first year ATBs) . Keeping them in albums, some have some value especially should I submit them to TPGs, which I will not. Yeah some of the moderns at MS 68 and higher command impressive prices, when slabbed. I now have several hundred modern dimes, quarters, nickels, and cents. For example a 1995 D FS Jefferson at MS 69 slabbed can go for $150, a choice 1998 D FS nickel near $400. 1993 P dime for $10-$20. A 1999 D Conn. quarter at MS 68, $55+, Not real high value, but the Mega Red book shows some impressive auction sales, into the thousands, 2003 P nickel, FS - $1,058 at auction. Yet, I do NOT spend hardly anything to buy most of these. I really prefer solid coins, bronze, CuNi, silver. Maybe to someone someday they may appear quite valuable, (excluding the FS nickels, which prior to 2004 already have potentially good value). Enough traction. Gary in Washington
Only among the blind William. Lovely and worthy endeavor on your part. Best wishes to you for completing your task.........
No, but I am collecting world proof sets of my birth year, and I was born after the majority of silver came out of coins.
... As do I. The most entertaining thing about collecting to me is finding a BS coin with no distractions. Difficult but it happens occasionally. I have come up with a good amount of "choice" moderns. The grading expense is too risky for me. I've got mine all in individual little ziplock bags.
All of the modern Jeffs are supposed to have full steps. They are only rare on the older coins, before the dies were reworked.
I keep mod bus strike 25c out of change in coin tube (fills fast)use for fast food purchase but do review for W mintmark. A change purse for other denom. Not a bad little collection. If line going slow (time sort out) enough pay exact amount bills / change.
Yes all the current denominations and designs. The OCD in my DNA is obsessed with completing and maintaining coin series.
Yes. Even though I know that there is no value in them, I gather up all 1965 to 1974 quarters and dimes that I receive in change. I then put them in a jar, along with any wheat pennies and o1d nickels. After the jar is full, I start a new jar. Been doing this for years.
