I was at a McDonalds and was getting lunch. I just got done searching a stack of 2 dollar bills and was spending discards and the lady who was working told me we do not take counterfeit money. She threatened to call the cops on me and her co workers believed it was fake as well. Manager came up the situation and I spent them. The lady magic markered every bill. Has this happened to anyone else before?
There's many stories of that happening including a school calling the cops on a child for using it in a lunch line
At least the manager had a higher degree of intelligence working. In answer to your question though, no I haven't had an experience like that.
I actively spend $50.00 of them every month, have been for several years. Never received any threats about the police. Some have had them checked with the magic marker. Only had the Manager called once, the cashier did not know which slot of the tray to put them in. Most common comment “I haven’t seen one of those ina long time”.
Very few young people have even seen one. I'd just take them back to the bank and convert them. there's other threads here that have the same problem. if you google "$2 bill call police" you'll see many incidents involving $2s.
There's always been parts of the population that haven't been aware of obscure rarely used denominations, this is nothing new
I regularly spend $2 bills and usually the cashier never even slows down in the transaction and this is in Helena, MT. LOL
Same with dollar coins I dont know what it is in southern Louisiana but most people have either never seen them, think there fake, or tell me we dont accept them here. Also have had people offer me actual money for halves and dollar coins thinking they are rare. 5 bucks for a dollar coins 3 for a half. Most ive ever been offered is 15 for a 2 dollar bill. Never took any of it just explained how they are face value and you can get them from the bank.
I'm not a fan but I've heard that Clemson fans spread the joy of 2 dollar bills where ever there teams goes. Each bill is stamped with a orange paw. Has anyone ever seen one ??? and I don't mean a Clemson fan.
LOL this is so funny, you can find articles from years ago of McDonald's cashiers calling police over $2 bills. Haven't we sorted this out by now? Not long ago we were printing millions of them, how come these aren't getting the proper circulation??
Yea they do and usually with a Tiger paw. Not everyone does it of course but it started as a marketing tool to show places that Clemson football was good for their economy back in the 70s when they were kind of a nothing burger. It's obviously more of a flex now for the ones still doing it
After the LSU and clemson game I went to the bank to get a stack of 2 dollar bills my bank had 8 thousand dollars in clemson Stamped 2 dollar bills. Made me mad because I saw 2 red seals with clemson stamps on them making them only face.
All of the vending machines at my high school had these. Both the gold ones and the Susan's. I would intentionally put a $20 bill in there to get the coins back.
People are morons. My astronomy teacher told us that when I was in high school. We thought he was joking, but he said he was serious. He says you don't see it, because you are smart kids, you're going to go to college and be surrounded by other smart people. But when you get out into the real world to get a job, 90% of the people are brain dead, mouth breathing morons. Cretins, idiots, sluggards, dullards. And, of course he was absolutely correct. I couldn't even figure out how these people could function like that, or hold responsible jobs. And when you are talking about employees at McDonalds, this is close to the bottom of the food chain.
I use these as well as dollar coins and halves. I've had a lot of strange reactions, including someone handing me back my money and telling me to just take my purchase. I've never had someone think it was counterfeit.
Recently, at a 7-11, I saw the guy behind the counter going nuts because he had been handed a silver certificate. The machine checking $'s said it was NG. I gave the customer $1 and took it. Well worn, it was only worth face anyway
