I have a major weakness for the one cent coin for no apparent reason so I just had to fall in love with this. Great!
Hello all, in December I won a lot fromEbay for around 9 $ and found a silver denar average price per coin: 0.65 $ IVLIA MAMAEA AVG, IVNO CONSERVATRIX, Mint Rome, RIC IV, no.343 A very nice Christmas gift
This coin I won from Spink USA auction/ 2 years ago. I was after a MS ex. for 10 years. Fruhwald/ Rauch/ Kunker have few Stempelglanz ex., but when they turn up, bidding wars drive prices too 12-20 K Euros So, I figured I had ZERO chance of getting a perfect FDC ex. that auction. I had proxy bid of 5K US, the highest prior bid upto actual event was $4500. When my coin came up, to my utter amazement I won it for $4500 It looks really beautifull in hand (flip) Austria-Hungarian Empire AV 4 Dukaten 1848-A Wien Mint Ferdinand V 1835-48
This one: South Korea 1970 10-Won (88% Cu, 12% Zn) Bought from well-known dealer, Julian Leidmann in its original cardboard core and shower-curtain plastic sleeve!: Upon which I had it graded (metallurgical analysis was an extra $75 bucks. Ouch.)
I am really glad you posted your 10 Won. My father left me with his coin collection. In it is a coin that says 100 Won. I don't know what it's value is or what the exchange rate in US money. I don't have the means to enclose a copy. When I do, I'll copy it here. Thnx
Here are a couple more where I got lucky. An Antoninianus of Emperor Hostilianus. I believe this coin never circulated. Found it unattributed in a dealer's tray dealing mainly with world coins. I hesitated a bit, but am glad I went for it. The other coin is a Rhode island Ship Token. Nice and scarce token USA-Colonial related token which was somehow listed in an auction under 'world medals' instead of under USA and colonial issues. I think this is the reason I was able to successfully bid on it and get for a fraction of its value.
