The coin dealer and I where talking last weekend and he and I both agreed that the 2008 with the 2007 reverse is overrated and going for WAY much more money than we think they will go for in the future...

    What do you guys think?

I agree...over-rated and at the current price I will never own one. I figure(or hope) in a year or so there will be a drop in the market.

    The market is already dropping.

It is a cool error as it can be seen with the naked eye but as, so often happens, the hype pumped it up.

Personally I wouldn't pay more than $100 for one. So I guess I'll never own one.

No big deal. It's a hunk of silver.

Like alot of other folks, i would love to have one, becuase it is a cool error, and it can be easily seen. But im not that big of an error collector, IF prices come down to an affordable level, i would love to own one, but not for $500-600!

    I bought 1 for $190

and sold it for $400 after I regretted buying it.

I wish I had bought 2 originally now however for the $190 as I would have kept one.

I'm not sure it's over rated, but I got caught up in the hype. It cost me an additional $ 82.80 to see if I could get one from the mint, but no luck. Now I have the three extra coins I am not sure what to do with.

    YES!!!! Overrated.

As most of us know, this is a variety, NOT an error.

As a variety, this may well hold some weight. We will see. As an original mint buyer of 10 of the "Anniversery" sets of Silver Eagles, it seems to me that "Silver Eagle Mania" has gone to far.

I wouldn`t buy any of these, but I could be wrong. These may very well turn out to be a 5 figure coin 5 years or so down the road.

I cruise catalogs and still I cannot see...

:eek:hya: In all the articles and coin catalogs I could lay my hands on, every slabbed (2008 w/2007rev) coin was graded MS, you know, mint state. And I remember onetime somewhere someone once refered to these coins as, 'burnished'??
 Could there possibly be an SP, or satin finish designation for these coins, you know, with the 2007 reverse? Maybe satin finish coins are just burnished coins in 'pristine' condition.?!?
:headbang: I've been asking everybody at CoinWorld for the last three and a half months but I think I got blacklisted for asking to many questions...
    Any thoughts out there?

in 5 years they will be out of fashion and easily picked up for a few dollars more than the "standard" coin. it happens all the time, i'm just waiting for the 1999 9 piece silver set to drop - any day now....

I recently thought 'I think I'll collect all the state quarters in silver proof'.

So I bought a 2007 silver proof set to start me off...$60.

    Then I had a look for a 1999 proof set....$2000
