Here are my first obsolete notes to be added to the collection. I found a couple of Hagerstown Bank Notes in UNC condition for a reasonable price. Interesting looking notes....will have to see what other notes for the same area bank(s) I can locate.

    They are $ 5 - $5-MD-240-G40b
    $10 - $10-MD-240-G46b

Interesting design on the notes and the paper is a bit different from what I am used to. Guess I will need to locate some more UNC notes like these two.

    Enjoy....Smaugy.

Are the notes you posted from Maryland? Are you also from Maryland? I collect Iowa obsoletes as I am from Iowa. I do have few notes from other states such as Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri and Indiana. I got the one from Indiana as a Iowa bank made an overprint on the Indianoa bank.

Very nice. I really love the looks of older notes. The beauty of modern notes, even with all our modern technology, just doesn't compare.

Not yet. I need to do some digging around. I have found a few other notes and bank checks with revenue stamps from the same bank that I might try to pick up to flush out these two notes.

I have the numbers for the notes -- need to find a reference on them to learn more. One guy say that they are fairly common notes -- there were alot of them that went unissued. They didn't cost me alot and I really like them. We will see what else I can find.

You have to love the bicolour notes from the 19th century, these are fantastic, with very lovely allegories. I own few obsoletes in an otherwise large collection, for there are SO many of them with lovely feminine vignettes that I could get caught up in a veritable hurricane of a collection very quickly.
