Die wear. The continued use has caused the die to expand, and the design ripples away from the center.
The coin displays some plate separation between the legend and the rim, due to a worn die. Also producing the observed machine doubling. Thats my opinion. Gary in Washington
Die Deterioration doubling on date ans3 Mechanical Doubling everywhere else. No it's not worth anything besides 1 Cent. Deterioration Doubling and Mechanical doubling fall under the Worthless doubling category because they both have absolutely nothing to do with a true Doubled Die variety.
New members do this a lot. I think they hit Create Thread more than once. When I notice I report it as a Duplicate Thread and the moderators either delete it and combine the posts or ignore it.
