Just got these three 8 Reales and was hoping the forum experts could weigh in on authentication. The Peru piece has a very odd date. It looks like a rusted die around it but the "8" is very suspicious. I don't have any particular suspicions about the other two but included them as well. Thanks!
Sure looks like the engraver struggled with the date there. In theory I suppose that 8 could have been punched with a damaged/breaking/broken punch. Then he tried to fix the bottom loop with other broken punches and touch up tools, with poor results. Early US coinage shows signs of the struggles to make do with rather crude equipment, and this mint probably was dealing with even more rudimentary equipment than the capped bust coinage of the same era, judging by the lettering in general. I really can't help you with the question of authenticity, enjoyed looking at your coins though.
