Hey all. I bought a 30x loupe on ebay, and found that if I put it in front of the lense in my camera, I can take fairly decent pictures of cents!! Way cool, as I couldnt get more than a blur out of my camera before, even in macro mode. Anyways, I am going to be posting my keys and semi-keys for grading. (the 09-s vdb is in a problem free ANACS slab). Sooooo, grade away!!
#1: VF-30 #2: AU-53 #3: barely a VF-20, but it makes it I believe #4: AU-55 #5: VF-25 #6: VF-30 Nice coins, all of them! All those grades are just my opinion at the moment, and I can most likely be off with most of them. But I do know you got some great looking coins there. :thumb: Phoenix
09-S VDB I can see 25, but I like that back. The front. I would be tempted to give a 20. 09-S I don't think I am seeing any wear. I'll go 63. 14-D 12 maybe 15. 31-S Nice strike for a 31-S. 58? 24-D 20 11-S 12/15
Thanks for the feedback guys! ArizonaJack, what does "BB" mean? Body bag? My goal, now that I have a complete set of Lincolns, is to get them all to VF or better. The 14-d and the 24-d don't quite make the cut in my opinion, but they are meaty fillers for now. Neither have the obverse "cheek and jaw" separation. The 09-s I am pretty sure has been cleaned, but is still a nice woody. The 31-s looks BU in hand, but its probably a strong AU. It reflects light as you would expect in hand, though I suppose it could be artificially colored. Regardless, it is a gorgeous coin. Here are a couple more semi-keys:
Anyone? Here is a new 1910-s upgrade that I received today for $14 bucks on ebay(My other one grades about a G-6). I think I did pretty good here.
NICE rip on the 10-S, thats a $30-$35 coin in VF-35, and it MIGHT slide thru at a 40 on a good day......
thanks! Well, I have to be honest. The BIN was $13.95, and then $1.50 for shipping...so really $15.45. I got it from Michigan Coin, and was very pleased. They graded it a VF+, and are one of the "few" ebay sellers that I believe grades somewhat accurately, maybe even a bit conservatively on their Lincolns. They described it in detail too. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330255753648&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=014
I'm not very good with the cent, but I have to say thanks for the great idea. I would never have thought to put my magnifying glass in front of my digital camera to get close ups. Overall, I do like that VDB and the 1911.
