Just out of curiosity what world gold coins would you purchase?

Depends on what I could find at the time. Ya see, they're about 10 times as scarce as the Lincolns, so ya can't always find the ones ya want on a given day.

    RB all the way.

With the change, I'd do as Doug said AND buy a new boat, lol.

Wish I still had the article - I believe it was in coin world. Basically I believe it said if you take decent care of the coin it will not turn in your lifetime. I mean some of these red coins have been around for over a hundred and fifty years - this was before de-humidfiers and holders. They are still red, you now put it in a holder which slows it down even more - so I doubt if any of my RD coins would turn in my lifetime - with decent care. Notice I did not say special care. So if you like a RD PCGS/NGC coin buy it, I prefer RB on IHC's. Now if you buy it, crack it out, put it in a dansco album - will it will probably turn to RB from the cardboard and chemicals given enough years. This is one we will have to agree to disagree on.

Here is a randall hoard http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=454&Lot_No=217 red - now these coins sat in a railway station for who knows how many years in barrels. Yes - most were BN or RB, but here is a RD. Now someone tell me they are going to do the same with their PCGS/NGC graded RD cents? Lets see how long it takes it turn from RD to RB. Who is going to volunteer to perform this experiment? :)

Mark I would agree that there are examples that have stayed red. But I believe there are more that haven't. It just depends buddy, there are a 100 variables.

Well I agree if you mean - do a census of 1820 ms cents and see how many are still red versus how many are brown. I readily agree with that. I am saying since PCGS and NGC started if they were still RD, put in a holder, provided decent care - then they will still be red when you die. The same is true of raw coins also - a red coin protected from a harmful environment will still be red for a long time. Now I am not talking about putting them in a railway station, or in a dasco album. Just providing a decent environment.

OK - lemme ask you this. Do you think that of all the coins that have turned in the slab that the owners of those didn't try to keep them in a good environment ? And if they did - why did they turn ?

My beard is nearly white and I live in a plastic bubble, eat all the right foods and yet I'm turning.

OK, I lied but things get old.

Sorry Doug. Had to add that.

LOL! Clembo maybe you just need a little dipping! Or maybe just a little Grecian formula. :)

As to the question - like I said the article I read said that there has not been any reported. If so why aren't these people returning the PCGS graded coins as "incorrectly graded". I mean if it is that rampant why isn't everyone buying brown only?

rzage What Goes Around Comes Around .

Just bought a NGC-RB-MS-64 Indian cent it's in a older NGC holder this coin would already be classified as brown :kewl::mad: , I'm putting it in a individual Intercept slab box , in another Intercepter box with siticants inside , hoping to keep it the color it now is . It does have some red highlights and irridecent colors .
