Just got this 1917-D Type 1 back from PCGS. I am happy with the grade, but I called and asked if "die clashes" would qualify as "Mint error" before I sent it in and they stated "yes". Well, now they don't. Shake my head, anything to get extra money out of me. Poor business practice, it's still a beautiful coin.

You got that right. For my money, SLQ's are the finest of all issues in high AU. I actually think yours to be a bit overgraded - 55 wouldn't surprise me - but easily worth low MS money on eye appeal alone. Wonderful coin.

Just so I'm not clogging a picture thread with plain typing:

I am very happy there is interest in SLQs. They are underrated, the designs are beautiful partuclarly epecially in grades AU and up. I need to show a couple that I have.

@AcesKings I was browsing this thread and I ran across your photos from May 12 2016. The feathers on the eagle are super detailed and the lines on the obverse front walls(?) are kind of wavy compared to other coins in the post. I don’t know much about SLQ but that quarter looks different than the others in the thread. Is that quarter legit? It could be lighting or a better strike than most. Caught my eye regardless.

I completely agree, I have a couple of years on my wish list if I can play “dodge the fakes”.

I am more than happy for an excuse to show my small year set of SLQs.

WHY, WHY, WHY the 27S in any condition has to be one of my all time favorites. I buy as many as I can find affordably.

I took that to mean melt price, I hope that’s the case. I feel the same way you do about 29-30.

I get it. I reread your post, you paid melt price. I do buy junk silver to melt, I thought that was a piece you got just to melt. I apologize I'm alittle slow this morning.
