I had just started looking for one, or some. I think it's time to look for other places to order, or auction, from. I'm learning, probably the hard way.
Mine's not toned (sowwy) but it is going in for grading next week along with a batch of red 50s... I'll be very happy if one of the 10-12 comes back MS66-67 but they all AU 55 min This one appears to show a bit of a die break/chip inside the C I'm looking forward to hearing what the graders have to say hehe
That's a really beautiful steel cent! That line inside the C of CENT looks like a clash mark from a die clash. It looks to be Lincoln's back. It looks like there are also more clash marks on the reverse of your coin too! That is what I am thinking. Here is a clash overlay from the MAD Die Clashes website:
Weasels coin is an ddr see the die chip, T marker on cent , ddr-003 perhasp you'll need to refine the exact one. Variety vista.com from the photos it looks to have been replated. And the clash does not match up . You may wish to research more....but it is an ddr for the year.
Actualy after going through all of the listed DDRs I'm 95% sure it's a ddr 006.. at this point I can't resist will spend the extra and let them do the attrib rather then cheaping out and just having them verify my belief lol (they charge enough, let em do some work lol_)
Here are 2 that are in bad shape. Should I clean them? Sorry, this is a duplicate, didn’t realize my post was on page 10...thought it wasn’t posting.
Hey, we've all done things like this. There is a discussion about "cleaning" zinc coins, but I don't think any conclusions have been reached.
been a while. We have a few (in fact the most we have ever had at one time). The CAC's are in fatties.
Glad it matches up! Those clash overlays really do work some magic. They are very cool when you can match it directly to a coin you have in hand. Nice eye @Paddy54! If it were me, I would be sure to have them label the coin's DDR and the clashes! That would make for quite the piece, especially once both varieties are attributed by the grading company. If you want, you could attach some closer images and I will take a shot at attributing it!
