First of all before any confusion I have inspected this very well and tried to take as good of pictures as I can and circled the two of many errors on this coin. There are several die cracks on this quarter. One is on the left lower side between the arrows and the Eagles feet and the other one is right through and over the top of the UN in United. this is in a 1984 P Quarter which the p is filled in and heavily stamped. Any suggestions on what something like this would go for? Thank you in advance and sorry about so many pictures I just wanted everyone to get a good look. Thank you and have a great day happy Hunting
Your images are very blurry, but that is to be expected when someone tries to use a loupe to take close-ups. The mark through "UN" looks like PMD. Regardless, die cracks are so common, I don't know why some people think they are considered Mint errors. Spend it! ~ Chris
The mark through the UN and wing looks like a minor die crack. I Can't tell about the other area, but it might be a small crack or more likely a die scratch. Technically they are errors, but are minor. They’re interesting to find, but don’t add any additional value. To answer your question, it’s worth 25 cents. If you are hoping to get rich looking for errors, you’re better off buying lottery tickets. Even minor errors aren’t that common and it’s unusual to find something significant that would retail for $1. Keep that in mind if you’re watching the “get rich from pocket change” videos. The You tube hacks never tell you the whole story, they just want your clicks. If you want to learn about coin collecting and errors, you're in the right place.
Technically, a die crack is not an error, since it would be on all coins struck after that point. It should be termed a die state or die variety
