I don't know how the betting will come out this week. I bet on a whole bunch of CC Morgans and when I went to submit my bid all was accepted fine. Then I went to confirm batch bids and clicked Submit. Then nothing happened. It didn't let me get back to my bids, but their site locked up. I closed out the site and re-booted it. But now there was only 5 minutes left in the bidding. By the time I was logged back in, the bidding had ended. Grrrrrrrrr :headbang: I wonder how many they'll mark as my bid and how many I just lost? :headbang:
It is real easy to check. Just click on "my bids" on the home page for coins and you will find out how many you bid on.
I was bidding from my bid page. I had 'em all priced out and waited till 4:50 Hawaiian time then placed my bids and the page locks up. That's what I'm all mad about. I already found out that I got only my page one bids. Nothing came through on my Page 2 bids. All the CC morgans didn't get bid. You asked I gave you my best answer. Aside from that, from what you are saying, Heritage had no problems. The problem was at your computer. Are you sure you are looking at the right 1999-s price? Mine costs me $9.97 PCGS deep cam PR69. The price for a 1999-S DCAM close AM is $1500
Not much reason to snipe on heritage, you might get one once in a while but not often. At least not on the coins I watch. I would never wait until the last 5 minutes to bid. Actually I like to be the first bidder - I look at the previous auctions, determine what I will bid and then bid it. Especially if the coin typically goes for between $1 to $9, plus the $9 dollar buyer premium for a total of 1 to 18. You usually want to be the first 1 to enter that amount.
U have to remember . . . on the bidding. I bid during the week and mark all the coins I want and bid them at the best affordable price. (they are now on My heritage bid sheet) Then I do research on what the values of coins are during the rest of the week. During the week many of the coins I want have been out bid. However having now done the research, I know what coins I can still get. Then 45 minutes before the bidding closes I re-bid what I want. It's only 5pm here in the islands because of our geographical location. Back in the mainland, it's about 11:00pm or so. Most of the mainland bidders are sleeping when I'm ready to outbid them. I don't really snipe them, because I still leave plenty of time for the snipers if someone really wants to. But my second bid will usually secure the coin for me. I bid on about $2,000 worth of coins per week. But I'm very select on what I bid and only want coins that are a good deal. But not last night. Their page froze on me. and no it wasn't my computer. It was solely the fluke of Heritage. o well . . . there's another bid for tomorrow night.
This isn't a numismatic issue. It's a technology issue. Yes, it's possible the problem was on Heritage's server. Or not. It might have been your computer. Or your Internet service provider. Or your router (especially if wireless). I'm not sure how Hawaii gets internet service, but the link probably involves a satellite. Or two. Or twenty. Any one of them might have a hickup. The chain 'twixt your fingertips and Heritage's server has a heck of a lot of links... any one of 'em can burp.
The mere fact that all you had to do was to reboot your computer proves to me that the problem was not at Heritage. It is possible that it could be something in between. But most likely, it was simply you computer/internet connection. The one thing I can assure you is that your rebooting your computer did absolutely nothing to correct a problem at Heritage or any of their servers.
Nothing wrong with that(well unless something goes belly up) - I just usually do the research before bidding. Of course I only look at a few types of coins - not many. If I miss a bid then I try again the next time. Actually I think the auctions end at 11:00pm only for EST, then 10PM for CST and 8 PST. So only the east coast might be asleep, but all those people like Arizona Jack are still awake.
That's true, Arizona and entire west coast. But it's usually all the edge I need. I've done very well in my bidding lately. O and I found out with heritage the other night that there were just a whole lot of people bidding on line last minute and their end locked. I don't know how many people didn't get their bids in. I submitted until the deadline, but couldn't get my 2nd page in. o well, there's always another week.
