Thanks. I sent off 8 of those 6-coin sets for grading. That is the highest graded set. Two lone top pops... the Quarter and the Cent.

A couple new pickups for my modern Hungarian patterns set:

    Hungary 1972BP 100 Forint Proof
    Pattern of KM-597

Commemorating the 1000th Anniversary of the Birth of Saint Stephen

Last year I picked up a stunning example of the 1972 50 Forint commemorative pattern proof. This coin now completes the set of two Saint Stephen commemorative patterns, though there are two other varieties of this pattern (this is the second rarest of the three).

    65482599_392861428102945_4970882766276132864_n-1200x600.jpg

    Hungary 1983BP 10 Forint
    Pattern of KM-636
    Struck in Bronze

    PCGS MS63

This is a recent acquisition from Heritage. PCGS slabbed this as a mint error (wrong planchet). While this is struck in bronze instead of aluminum-bronze, the mint error part doesn't make any sense to me. There were no bronze planchets in use for another coin during this time period that could have accidentally made its way into the hopper, and any bronze planchets possibly left around for decades from previous bronze issues would have been way too small for a coin of this size to strike fully like this (think striking a quarter on a planchet smaller than a nickel).

I am in the process of doing more research on this piece, but my educated guess is that it is actually a pattern (off-metal trial strike in bronze), and possibly unique. Of note, 1983 is the first year for this type. There is a recognized pattern listed but it is dated 1982 and is struck in aluminum-bronze, the same as the business strikes. I have an example of the 1982 pattern and of the 1983 business strike, and this example is quite different from both of them.

Picked up 1 from today's Heritage sale. There were only a handful of lots in the auction that I both wanted and could afford.

There were 2 of these in the sale. To my eyes, this is a far superior piece in exceptional condition.

This was a surprise win in yesterday's Agora auction. I bid on it a while ago and kind of forgot about it. This is now my oldest German States coin. For $65 plus the buyers's premium, I'm pretty happy.

In my opinion, this is a pretty under-appreciated area of numismatics.

Picked up a pair of very nice Hungarian silver commemorative proofs. Funny to find these right after I picked up a pair of patterns for these coins.

Super pleased with this one. Seller's pics on ebay weren't that great and I was expecting a more worn (and maybe cleaned) coin. This completes my date set for this type:

A new pickup for my Hungarian major errors collection:

    Hungary 1915KB 10 Fillér
    Broadstruck

    KM-496 (1915 dated, 1916-1918)
    Iron (Wartime Issue)

The severely worn obverse die was from the previous type and was pressed into use in 1919 to strike 1915-dated issues. Despite being listed as common in some catalogs, this is a tough date. I was very pleased to find this nice well-centered broadstruck example with minimal corrosion. According to my catalog, there is one known broadstruck example of the corresponding 20 fillér iron issue, but none were known for this type.

These are all from this week's Stephen Album sale. I also picked up some group lots. I will share some of the better stuff from those once they arrive.
