I agree - the coin is overgraded. But that's a lot of luster for XF-45. I'm not an expert at grading Lincolns but I don't see any wear on the coin. I would grade it MS-62 or 63 BN. (Not nearly enough Red for RB in my book.)

It could be, I am still a rookie..lol...so I grade coins very low just to make sure....but the black spots make me think it has been in circulation, there is a little wear that I can see and something that looks like a fingerprint, so I don't think it could be MS....but like I said, I am new so....you are more of an expert at everything that to do with coins than I am so

    OHHH...so it is MS-62 BN??

I didn't know, I thought it might be a different grading system that I havent heard of yet..

It's circulated to some degree, has alot of red and luster left, but the spottiness distracts from the eye appeal AND the value.

Dont pay over an XF price for that coin if you were forced to buy it. Too many out there, avoid problems at all costs. See my signature line.

    Yep, a typo. I meant 62 or 63 BN.

Hmmm. I need to take another look. Lincolns can be hard to grade for me sometimes.

It's a very nice coin and I certainly wouldn't mind owning it . . . buuuuut . . . It certainly is no MS65. At best, at very best it's an XF. It also looks like it's been circulated for a bit.

I just plain think it's ugly and I like toning.

    NEVER a 65. Maybe a 60 but(t) ugly.

The coin in the slab is at least original, and therefore the better choice. The raw coin is problematic as well, but worse. Spots before a scrub anyday.
