Greetings: While going through my 1941 Lincoln cents looking for a DDO, I found this coin. It appears to have a faded "WE" and a nearly completely missing "TRUST" Anything to get excited about?
Nope, looks like it was scraped off. You can see the rim is pushed out above liberty. Post mint damage. Worth one cent. Welcome to CT
Hi. i know this post is a little old but i strongly believe that the conclusion is up for debate. i have a penny from the same year with almost the exact error as kardinals. can it just be coincidence that both pennies were damaged post minting or could the error have occurred during the minting process?
As @-jeffB said, it could be due to a grease filled die. This would explain multiple coins having the same weak or non existant strike and not qualifying as an error.
First, welcome to the neighborhood! If the missing legend was due to a grease-filled die, then yes, it could be that there were identical coins struck. However, we have no way of knowing without seeing a photo of your coin. ~ Chris
@Builder Bear ...start a new thread and reference this one...sometimes this happens...I recently had the same problem and a new thread solved it...Spark
You can do that or just upload the image files straight to the thread you are posting in. Click "Upload a file" button below the reply box. Select the files and let them load. Next select full images. It's easy.
thanks for that.. i did try to do that when I first became a member so I am guessing my profile was awaiting approval.
