When submitting coins to TPGs do you specify if it’s an error coin, FS, FB,DD, etc. so they can look for that or do they automatically look for these?
If you want you coin attributed, you need to state in the appropriate place on the submission form and include the fee.
Absolutely. There are a few members here on CT that profit handsomely from finding such treasures in the marketplace . . . most notably, @C-B-D is especially good at this.
Too kind. But the cherrypicking market has changed. Gone are the days when collectors pay up for a rare variety. They all prefer to cherrypick it themselves. That's the fun in it. The challenge.
I cherrypicked a Capped Bust Quarter a few years back on eBay. It was a Rarity 5+ but damaged. I got it into an NGC Details slab. One of my only two Details coins.
You're right, but there are some exceptions. There will always be those who earn too much money hourly or annually to justify the long hours hunting for such elusive coins, and would sooner pay up.
What is a “Variety/Attribution”? Varieties and Attributions are coins that differ from the original design and are typically sought after by collectors. These include VAM numbers found on Morgan dollars, die flaws, and striking errors.
Some thing are automatic like FS, FBL, FH, FT, FB, some VAMs, a couple DD are automatic, basically most of the major things are automatic but still would need to check it. If it's something that isn't then you need to pay the variety fee, errors are always an upcharge and need to be submitted as such
