@Debbie D ...look carefully at 1971 and 1976 years for varieties...get a Yeoman Red Book, it will show you the years with the varieties with pictures on some. Unless they are silver or silver-clad, they really need to be MS.

I just released 11 Ike dollars back to the wild. They were less than AU58. I tried to use them in a grocery store but they jammed the coin drop slot. I had them rescued but ended up just taking them to a bank to redeem.

There are some Ike dollar websites out there too...Spark

Shhhhhh. Don't tell everyone about varieties. I have cherry picked at least a dozen 1972 Type 2 August/September minting and 4 Type 2 believed minted in March with the die Break on the top of the A in STATES. Three of the dozen came from a dealers uncirculated roll and were sent out and returned encapsulated MS 64. A few other cherry picks came back MS 63. I have never found a Peg Leg circulation strike 1972 Type 2. Only educate the young collectors about cherry picking. Give the young numismatists a chance so don't tell the older geezers on CT about cherry picking. There are some nice doubled dies and Peg Legs when the YM's search.

"Unless I have very nice looking, uncirculkated coins, I usually avoid eBay for Eisenhower Dollars since each coin needs to sell for at least $1.25 apiece to realize any profit." Any profit you realize from a $1.25 sales price will disappear after you pay for a shipping envelope and postage and travel expense to the post office :( - spend your Ike dollars for tips, etc. unless they're 40% silver

    As do I.
It’s always entertaining to watch the wait staff pick them up and just stare at them. The 30 and under crowd usually are not sure what they are looking, while the older more experienced staff feel like they just scored a big one!

Bank tellers. They sell coins right at face value.
