I found a 2000 P nickel that has a lot of raised marks on it to many for me to think the could be strike throughs (I think that's the right term) so I thought it might possibly be a die clash. They are all over the face and in the hair. There are some nicks as well. Take a look and let me know what you think. "Trying to learn something new every day"
This is PMD. Post mint damage. The light is coming from the left (west) of the coin. Any raised devices would be bright on the lighted side coin, not dark as in your pictures.
Ole Abe may have won it that fight!! OP. Your looking to hard!! Circulation kills that coin for what ever you think it is!
The light is coming from 2 sorc I've taken some new pics with the light only coming from the USB microscope so directly over the coin. I've also drawn red lines sometimes circling as well the raised areas and yellow lines indicating obvious nicks and scratches.
All those marks you identified are damage, hits, circulation and environmental damage. Post Mint Damage....etc..
I didn't think pmd was raised areas off the surface of the coin. I thought raised areas were things like die cracks, die chips, strike throughs ect. So they aren't they're incuse? Guess I was wrong again. "Guess I learned something new today"
Just take your time, read and digest what folks here are telling you. It's basically training your eyes, knowing where to look and what to look for. No rush.
