1923-S Peace Guess Grade

I'm thinking MS63... but it might pull a 64 ! Big price difference 'twixt 63 and 64... those S-mint Peace are notoriously weak strikes.

true common for a 23 P, but not a 23 S. Nice strike for a S mint. I'd say ms-63 due to the hits on the chin and jaw and neck. Not too bad. It very well might go 64 if I could look at it in hand. I've been looking for one just like it. My 23 S needs to be upgraded.

 

After recieving the coin, I think the luster is what gave it the grade. It looks nicer than the picture, but I might be leaning toward a 63 as well. DLRC said it was very close to a 65. Nice coin, but I doubt it would come back a 65.... if it did I would sell it right away as the price increase would justify a quick sale.

 

If it were mine, I would certainly give it a try... assuming I felt the coin is really a 64.

Some folks use logic like :
"It's in an old holder, standards were tougher, so it should upgrade."
"It's NTC MS66, they overgrade by 2 points, should be a 64. I'll send it in."

I used to do that. Never again.

If I'm considering an upgrade, I evaluate the coin on it's own merits, and nothing else.

Upgrade the coin, not the slab !

thats really nice. Can I grade it on a coin grading scale instead? I say MS 63, with a chance of it hitting 64, But these are just my opinion based on small pictures.

 

ms 63 would be my guess also
