Morning, I know this 1973 penny is wiped out what can you tell me if it's environmental damage on the liberty thanks
Not with those pictures...The rest of it looks like scrapes so I imagine that LIBERTY is the same case.
Your photos, particularly the obverse one, are too blurry, but I'm guessing that it is a case of "road rash". ~ Chris
looking at all the road rash type damage all over the rest of the coin, including the rim directly to the left, why would you think the immediate area where LIBERTY is located would be any different ?
When a golf ball lands on the putting green, does it wipe out a large area or just a small divot? ~ Chris
Why isn't less of Liberty wiped out ? Why when a car crashes that one doesn't have full control of minimizing or eliminating all the damage done upon impact? When you say this coin is "wiped out" Can you please provide the following information of Each and Every scrap, nick, scratch, impact, drop that is seen on the coin: Who had possession of the coin during each impact what pressure, duration and method of each scrap, nick, etc. Why did said person not keep the coin, how long did they keep it in their possession Once i have this information in detail, then I'll be able to provide to you in detail of how and why Liberty is the way it is.
Just a suggestion. There is a Error Coins forum here on CoinTalk. Any future questions you may have you can create your thread there.
