    Dang. Even the countermark looks tooled.

    Oof. I would've rather had it with no tooling and hard to see details.

    It’s just misattributed. The style may appear unfamiliar, but is in fact typical of the Toolaeum mint.

    Ok, but seriously... o_O:facepalm::banghead:

    Why is the guy on the obverse's brain on the outside of his head? I presume he didn't last long in the purple.

    Seriously folks, if any of you ever buy a coin from a seller who can not or does not describe this level of tooling, you deserve what you get. I don't mean the tooled coin but ANY coin. I don't care if this was ignorance or dishonesty. There are enough honest and capable sellers out there that you do not need to support this sort of thing.

    I got a AV Ducato Pope Nicholas V
    NGC UNC details tooled/clipped
    Stacks Auction disputed that claim by NGC, said they could not see evidence of clipping. Back in Medieval times, many coins where clipped, even though penalties where harsh...if caught.:dead:

    Just looked at the link: one bid haha. Although for a talking point piece I can imagine why someone might want it. Maybe not £20 + fees and postage though.

    I was not aware of Reddit but found interest that one 'Kung Fu Possum' expressed the opinion that the tooling was 'contemporary' since it was under the patina. I don't have an opinion on that one but do believe that it should have been noted as a 'bonus' for the coin if it were a fact. It would seem the consignor must have specialized in ancient toolies since the sale included so many of something of which I was unaware. :bag:
