1999 Connecticut quarter with strange marking on rim and design

    Looks like it was in a vice and is damaged. Wait for other opinions...

    No matter what kind of tool caused it, IMO, it's just a damaged coin.

    It doesn't matter! All it takes is just one letter that ends up being higher than the others around it after going through the coining chamber, and the vise, clamp, pliers or whatever was used to cause the PMD will miss making contact with some of the letters. I hope that makes sense. ~ Chris
