I have read somewhere before that a bill with a non-repeating serial number is hard to come by. My daughter got a fifty dollar bill that has a serial number, that in no particular order, has no duplicate numbers. We just wondered if there was any collector value to this bill.
Spend or sell? any help or opinions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Let's see, the math shouldn't be too bad here.... The number of possible serials with no repeated digits would be 10*9*8*7*6*5*4*3, which works out to 1,814,400. There are 100,000,000 possible serials all together, and dividing the second result by the first, we see that about one in 55 notes will have no repeated digits in the serial.

Comparing that to the rarity of, say, a radar note (one in 10,000 notes), I'm pretty sure the no-repeats note is far too common to command any sort of premium value. (Especially if it's a $50; most collectors of fancy serials prefer to concentrate on $1's, which are cheaper.)

a cool find, but i would spend it. I do see them for sale from time to time on sites, but im not interested in them so i pay little attention to the prices.

Thanks for the replies, I will tell my daughter to spend it. As it turns out she stuffed it in her chang purse and wrinkled it all up anyway. Thanks again, and now I know were to come for the numbers.:thumb:

Yeah, they hold no value, unless its a ladder. (i.e. 12345678, or 87654321)
